Sit.Stay.Love

Along with my duties as Home Department Manager at Anthropologie, I also get the privilege of being the event planner for the store! If you know anything about me I have a background in event planning and still love it very much. I was so excited when I was able to take over the events for the store! This was my first event that I was able to host… and oh my gosh it was the best.

Sit.Stay.Love is a pet adoption event that Anthropologie has been hosting for the last 8 years! Each store that participates partners with a local no-kill shelter to have them bring in pups for the event. Our goal is to help these little babes find great homes!

Our store partnered with Halo Animal Rescue who also partners with Almost There Foster Care who fosters these pups until they can find their FURever home! We had 7 puppies come to our event from two different litters. One litter was a lab mix and the other was a pittie mix.

This sweet baby is Ebony. I was IN LOVE with her! I battled many hours over the thought of taking her home but unfortunately a studio apartment, that already has one dog, is not the most ideal living situation for a growing puppy… but she still needs a great home! You can contact Almost There Foster Care to setup a time to go meet Ebony and all of the other wonderful puppies that are waiting to be adopted!

We had a total of 3 of the 7 puppies adopted during our 3 hour event. I wish that all the little babies could have gotten FURever homes, but I’m happy that we were able to playa  small role in changing some these puppies (and their humans) lives!

Contact Halo Animal Rescue & Almost There Foster Care for adoption inquires! Also, contact your local Anthropologie for upcoming events in your area!

Viva Las Vegas!

Back in August I went to Vegas for the first time with all of my best college girl friends! Not only was it an amazing trip because it was my first time in Vegas, but even better… it was the first time we got all of the girls together since we graduated and all left good old Lubbock, TX!

We stayed at Caesars Palace, which has the most beautiful rooms (and a GIANT bathtub)! We ate at some amazing restaurants, gambled our way through old Downtown Las Vegas, saw all the sites… but my favorite spot was the pool at Caesars! We rented a Cabana for the day, which by the way is the only way to enjoy a pool day.

This is the amazing view from our hotel room!

The best part of the pool was under that giant balcony. Nestled under there is not only a bar, but they also have card tables IN THE WATER! we played a few rounds and soaked up all the free drinks possible at the pool.

Our Cabana was at the main pool and included sodas, waters, chips, a fruit platter, towels and a waitress! Not only did we have this lovely indoor seating with fans and a TV, we also had outside seating and misters!

As far as I’m concerned Cabana’s are the only way to enjoy a pool day. This is what I want to do on every vacation that I have. Where are the best pools/cabanas that you’ve been to?? I’m on the hunt now!

Mini Weekend Getaway to Flagstaff, AZ

IMG_2987

This past weekend we decided to pack up our pup Phillip and hit the road to Flagstaff, AZ to escape the Phoenix heat (kind of). Although it was only slightly cooler (around a 90 degree high), it made all the difference! We drove up mid-afternoon on Saturday after a quick stop to the Farmer’s Market for some yummy snacks.

We drove straight to a small trail, Tom Moody Trail. It was short, easy and dog friendly so we thought it would be a great place to start. It started out promising  but boy were we wrong…

IMG_2995IMG_2996IMG_2999IMG_3000IMG_3001IMG_3006IMG_3002

After getting about 1/2 way in our poor little pork-chop, Phillip, decided to lay down and that was the end. Kirby, being the great dog-dad that he is literally had to carry her the rest of the way back to the car… It’s pretty clear that Phillip may need a tad more exercise.

After we dropped the pork chop off at our hotel for a much deserved nap, we headed out to explore downtown Flagstaff on our bikes! Our first stop was Mother Road Brewing Company. I’ve got to admit that I’m not the biggest beer fan but I really enjoyed the Mother Road! The beer was great, the outdoor patio was pup friendly and they had one restaurant that you could order in from, and one that showed up at 4:30PM and did table service.

After Mother Road we headed out to find Dark Sky Brewing. DSB was located in the coolest building that was also dog friendly, had lots of games and a food truck on site! I love the atmosphere here. After a beer here we headed back out on our bikes to hangout at our hotel with Phil.

Sunday morning we slept in a little and then loaded up and checked out. We took Phillip with us to May’s European Coffee House and Bakery (not pictured: delicious iced lattes and dirt chai’s). After a quick breakfast we walked around downtown a bit and then hit the road!

Of course before getting back to Phoenix, we had to make one last stop at the scenic view for a few good selfies. It was a short, sweet (less than 24 hour) vacay to beat the rut of getting stuck inside during the very hot Phoenix summers!

Wine-not?

Wine-not have a birthday party at a West Texas winery?! This year I celebrated my 22nd birthday at McPherson Cellars in good ole Lubbock, TX. This was a prefect birthday party that was intimate and fun! We started the night off with light refreshments and snacks, and then we enjoyed a group wine tasting where we got to try five different wines from McPherson. After that we opened up the bar and the big garage door and continued partying! Check out our photos below:

New Year {New Me}

c9370342e11ad7ec317e1f1add1ba68f

Well it’s that time of year again to start thinking about your New Year Resolutions (well actually it’s past that time… so I’ve already started procrastinating in 2016…). The thing about New Year Resolutions is that they are so hard to stick to. My goal is to find resolutions that are small and simple enough to where I can actually stick with them. I also want to swap out the term ‘resolution’ and replace it with the word ‘goal’ because goals are achievable and can be measured. So here they are, my 2016 New Year Goals!

Fitness & Health

  • Drink one gallon of water a day
  • Workout for at least 30 minutes, 5 times a week
  • Reach my step goal of 10,000 steps per day, everyday (thanks to my new Fitbit)

Business and Work

  • Get better at blogging (blog at least 2x per month)
  • Start job searching and researching companies… and hopefully have a job by August when I graduate
  • Stick with my monthly timeline of to-do’s for the wedding I’m planning (not mine, it’s for a friend)

School

  • STOP PROCRASTINATING – finish your deadlines before the day before they’re do
  • Read all of the assigned readings, even if you don’t want to

Personal

  • Read more books, at least one every 2 months, for fun again (even though you’re busy)
  • Start writing again! Start a collection of essays because you like to write
  • I’ve found a new love of podcasts… so, my goal is to swap out 30min of television a day for a new podcast that will challenge me to be better, grow and learn

Well… those are my lame, boring and very generic 2016 goals. What are yours?

XO, Natalie Alexandra

Thanksgiving 2015

This year my Thanksgiving was a little different than normal. Instead of spending Thanksgiving with my family in Dallas, this year I spent my Thanksgiving break in Mesa, Arizona with my boyfriend. Not only was this a change geographically for me, but this it was all up to me to plan out and execute Thanksgiving dinner. In this Thanksgiving post I’m going to go over just where to buy my decor/design pieces and what recipes I was using for dinner. Enjoy!

DECOR//DESIGN

For my simple and sweet Thanksgiving dinner table I shopped at just two stores – Target and Ross. Here’s the breakdown of where I got everything:

FOOD

And for the stuffing… it’s a family secret. Sorry 🙂

I hope this tablescape inspires you to get creative with all of your holiday get-together’s this season! I’d love to see what y’all come up with.

Happy Holidays!
